Friday, March 19, 2010
Locations: Charlotte Pass Village, Mt Kosciuszko (Summit) and Jindabyne

9:00 a.m. Traditional pilgrimage to Mt Kosciuszko. Walk from Charlotte Pass or the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift, which leaves from Thredbo.

11:00 a.m. The first-ever ‘Kosciuszko Run’ to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko. The run starts from the Kosciuszko Chalet Resort in Charlotte Pass Village. Total distance: 11km. This event is being organised by Strzelecki Heritage Inc.

12:00 p.m. Sing-along on the summit with the Polish Consul General, Daniel Gromann.

3:45 p.m. Medal awarding ceremony at Pygmy Possum Lodge in Charlotte Pass Village. A special song for the winner will be performed.

5:00 p.m. Piano recital by the outstanding artist Krzysztof Malek, to mark the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth. Jindabyne Anglican Church. Free entry.


Saturday, March 20, 2010
Location: Jindabyne

7:00 a.m. Strzelecki Walk with Pawel Gospodarczyk, starting at the Strzelecki Monument by Lake Jindabyne.

9:00 a.m. Photographic exhibition entitled In Mud and Blizzard: Winter Expedition Along the Strzelecki Track. NPWS Visitors’ Centre. Photos by Oscar Kantor.

10:00 a.m. The premiere of Oscar Kantor’s docudrama about Sir P. E. Strzelecki, entitled Mt. Kosciuszko: The Frozen Years, followed by Joseph Drewniak and Andrew Chodkiewicz’s 27-minute documentary Strzelecki’s Return. Jindabyne Cinemas.

11:30 a.m. Free tasting of Kosciusko Wines. Viewing of the photographic exhibition Filming in Jindabyne. Memorial Hall.

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Lunch, featuring sausages, bigos (traditional Polish stew) and potato pancakes. Memorial Hall.

1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Gala Concert at Memorial Hall. Master of Ceremonies: Darius Paczynski. The concert will feature:
- A Welcome to Country from the Ngarigo Elders;
- Speeches from: the Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, the Mayor of Snowy River Shire Council, the Ambassador of Poland, the NPWS Snowy Mountains Regional Manager and the patron of the Kosciuszko Run, among others;
- Performances from: the Traditional Dancers of the Monaro, the folkloric ensemble Lajkonik, singers Beata Wald, Asia Lunarzewska and Jola Komincz, as well as the Barker College Symphony Orchestra, among others.

5:00 p.m. Gathering and photo session at the Strzelecki Monument.

7:00 p.m. Piano recital by Krzysztof Malek, to mark the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth. Quality Resort Horizons. Evening attire, please.

Location: Cooma

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Harmony Day Gala Concert in Centennial Park, featuring:
- Speeches by: the Hon. Steve Whan, State Member for Monaro; Mr Witold Krzesinski, Deputy Head of Polish Mission; Dean Lynch, Acting Mayor of Cooma; Robert Korzeniowski, Patron of Kosciuszko Run; and Dr Lidia Filus, President of Chicago Chapter, Kosciuszko Foundation.
- In the program: Harmony Day Fashion Parade, Traditional Dancers of the Monaro, Monaro Dance Centre performance, Cooma Monaro Chorus, Bollywood Dancers, Barker College Symphonic Band, Cooma District Band, Caledonian Dancers, a Chinese Dancer, the Lajkonik Ensemble and a host of singers, including Beata Wald, Asia Lunarzewska, Jola Komincz-Howe, Paulina Pazdzior, John Hospodaryk and Andrzej Komorowski.
- Mistress of Ceremonies: Allison Jeffries.

10:00 a.m. (Optional) Mass at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.

3:00 p.m. Screening of the docudrama Mt Kosciuszko: The Frozen Years, followed by Strzelecki’s Return. Snowy Hydro Educational Centre (two kilometres north of Cooma’s CBD).

Note: In the event of unexpected rain during the concert, the festival will move from Centennial Park to the Snowy Hydro Information and Education Centre (two kilometres north of Cooma’s CBD), where several films relating to Kosciuszko, Strzelecki and the Snowy Mountains will be screened. In the event of inclement weather forecast for the whole day, the concert will be held in the Cooma Ex-Services Club, 106 Vale St.


Monday, March 22, 2010
Location: Cooma

7:00 p.m. Piano recital by Krzysztof Malek, to mark the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth. St Paul’s Parish Hall. Special closing night performance. Meet the artist over wine and cheese. St Paul’s Anglican Parish Hall (Commissioner Street, Cooma). Tickets will be available from the Snowy Monaro Arts Council. Ask for a concert program at the venue.

Note: The festival will be filmed by a Polonia Television team headed by Joanna Bator.
